A documentary comedy about serious issues we have with our stuff, Xmas Without China follows Chinese immigrant Tom Xia as he challenges his American neighbors to survive the Christmas season without any Chinese products.

The film premiered at SXSW 2013 where Pulitzer Prize-winning James V. Grimaldi of The Wall Street Journal called the film “a surprising, sweet, funny documentary that provokes without sermons.” Xmas Without China went on to win Best Comedy at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival, Best Environmental Theme at the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival and the People’s Choice Award at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival.

Xmas Without China has been broadcast on both PBS and Al Jazeera and the film is part of Working Films REEL ECONOMY residency and is distributed by Bullfrog Films and Scorpion TV. A Veracity Productions picture, Xmas Without China is a co-production of ITVS, in association with CAAM, with funding provided by CPB, and in association with Chicken & Egg Pictures and Pacific Pioneer Fund.
